Nuria Maria Pastor-Soler, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Medicine
Assistant Dean For Research Mentoring
IRD 2020 Zonal Ave Off Campus Los Angeles

Dr. Pastor-Soler's research interests include regulation of the vacuolar H+-ATPase (V-ATPase) in the male reproductive tract, regulation of Na+ transport in the collecting duct by bicarbonate-regulated sAC, and renal salt transport regulation by WNK kinases, to name a few. She is currently studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which metabolic pathways in the kidney are affected by acidosis, a known predictor of CKD progression. She is also studying renal cell carcinomas with the aim to confirm a novel biomarker that could be used clinically to assess the presence and severity of this disease.

Dr. Pastor-Soler earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She then went on to complete her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology followed by a Nephrology Fellowship at Brigham and Women's/Massachusetts General Hospital. She is currently Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and Assistant Dean for Research Mentoring at Keck School of Medicine of USC
