The connection between the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and USC stretches back to 1885. It continues to benefit Angelenos in need at Los Angeles General Medical Center, which is among the nation’s largest safety-net hospitals.

Nearly 60 research programs supported by external grants unite the Keck School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), with the majority coming from the National Institutes of Health and other federal funders. CHLA ranks among the nation’s top 10 children’s hospitals. Most physicians and many researchers at CHLA are full-time Keck School of Medicine faculty members.
