An associate professor of Clinical Family Medicine and Pediatrics (Educational Scholar), Dr. Schaff is also the director of the Keck School of Medicine’s Humanities, Ethics/Economics, Art, and Law (HEAL) Program, and maintains her clinical pediatric practice in the Family Medicine Clinic. Previously, Dr. Schaff was the associate dean of curriculum for the Keck School of Medicine at USC.
She teaches in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine (ICM) Program and the Family Medicine Clerkship, integrating health humanities education into additional learning opportunities in her new academic home in the Department of Family Medicine.
Dr. Schaff is completing her doctorate studies in literature and creative writing at USC. When she completes her dissertation, she plans to devote her professional work to research and education in narrative medicine and health humanities.
Prior to her tenure as associate dean for curriculum, she served as director of the ICM program from 1996 to 2007 and as assistant dean for curriculum from 2007 to 2012.
