Our Anesthesiology Simulation Center is located at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center on the fifth floor, within Same Day Surgery, Room A5C113.

The mission of the Los Angeles General Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology Education and Simulation Center is to improve patient care and safety by providing evidence-based simulation educational programs, designed for multidisciplinary perioperative learners, teams and individuals. The vision of the Los Angeles General Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology Education and Simulation Center is to provide simulation training and education for the benefit of a culturally diverse patient population. Our focus will be to advance patient safety, simulation research and leadership in medical education. Performance indicators will include content, quality, utilization and learner outcomes.

Our qualified simulation faculty incorporate the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practice: Simulation℠ into each of a wide variety of learning experiences, and performance indicators are driven by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) standards. Learning is enhanced through up-to-date, state-of-the-art technologies, including low- and medium-fidelity task trainers, a high-fidelity CAE Human Patient Simulator (HPS®) within a lifelike simulated operating room setting and the use of standardized patient educators in the teaching and assessment of history taking, consultation, physical examination and other clinical skills.
