The Department of Anesthesiology provides excellent educational opportunities for members of our medical profession, whether they are anesthesiologists, faculty CRNAs, residents, SRNAs or medical students. Our bi-campus locations provide a rich environment for a stimulating experience resulting in the Department supporting the educational mission of the surgical subspecialties wherever they are located.

Residency Program

Our Anesthesiology residency program consists of a four-year curriculum (PGYI-IV) at the Los Angeles General Medical Center where our residents are exposed to a wide variety of cases during his or her training, covering all aspects of modern anesthesiology practice. Our residents gain experience in all major subspecialties of anesthesiology.

Fellowship Program

The Department of Anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine offers a number of fellowships for interested students. These include fellowships in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Regional Anesthesiology and Neuroanesthesiology.

The rotation introduces medical students to the art and science of anesthesiology. This rotation will enhance the professional careers of all medical students, including those who will pursue a different specialty. Students considering anesthesiology will develop a more informed understanding of the field.

Nurse Anesthesia

The USC Program of Nurse Anesthesia offers an intense academic and comprehensive clinical curriculum. Students will gain experience in a variety of clinical specialty areas including general, cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, genitourinary, gynecologic, head and neck, plastic, orthopedic, trauma, burns, transplantation, robotics, obstetric, pediatric and outpatient procedures.
