International Symposium

Are you a Patient?

Alcohol consumption is the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States and one of the leading risk factors for major health problems in other developed and developing countries. To address this global challenge, the Southern California Research Center for ALPD & Cirrhosis considers the International Symposium on ALPD & Cirrhosis as the most effective means to stimulate new and integrated approaches in scientific research and global outreach.

To this end, the Center has organized the first international symposium on ALPD and cirrhosis in the Southern California, May 2006 and co-organized the 2nd symposium in Kobe, Japan, October, 2007. The first symposium assembled 130 scientists from 10 nations and the second meeting attracted more than 150 from 17 nations, leading to the Center’s successful acquisition of the NIAAA R13 conference grant (R13AA02O619) in 2014. Key governmental and academic organizations of hosting nations have also sponsored meetings, to achieve maximal outcome of the outreach objective in those nations. We are pleased that our Center is part of this global outreach initiative.

The International Symposium on ALPD & Cirrhosis is also important in addressing the significance of synergism between alcohol and other risk factors common in contemporary societies such as obesities and diabetes in producing serious pathologic consequences.

The 15th International Symposium on ALPD & Cirrhosis

15th International Symposium on ALPD & Cirrhosis, held as part of the 2021 ESBRA meeting. Theses meetings were sponsored by key academic organizations of the hosting nations to achieve maximal outcome of the outreach objective in those nations.

 

The 14th International Symposium on ALPD & Cirrhosis

August 13-14, 2020, Virtual

The ISALPD-C was held in conjunction with The Liver Week 2020, an international conference hosted by the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL) and co-hosted by the Korean Association of HBP Surgery (KAHBPS), the Korean Liver Cancer Association (KLCA) and The Korean Liver Transplantation Society (KLTS). Organizers: Drs. Bin Gao, Dong Joon Kim, and Won IL Jeong.
