The department’s supportive environment enables faculty to maintain close contact with students in order to nurture professional and intellectual development.

The graduate programs emphasize rigorous research training in biochemistry and molecular biology. The five major program areas are gene regulation, developmental biology, cancer biology, molecular basis of disease and gene therapy.

The atmosphere among students and faculty is one of open informality fostered by a pleasant working environment and state-of-the-art research facilities. The faculty, advanced graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff working in the research laboratories provide a constant source of support and guidance for all the students.

Recent graduates from the Master’s degree program have successfully obtained admission to top PhD programs or research employment positions in biotech or pharmaceutical companies and academic research laboratories.
