Overview

Dr. Ji joined the faculty of Keck School of Medicine of USC in September 2000. Prior to the faculty, he earned his M.S. in Chemistry from Shanghai Jiao Tong Univ. and completed his PhD in Biochemistry and postdoctoral fellowships in Pathology/Medicine at Univ. of California and Keck School of Medicine of USC, respectively. Dr. Ji’s research interests include cellular organelle (e.g., ER, Golgi, mitochondria, or lysosomes) stress and liver disease, alcohol-induced hyperhomocysteinemia, and hepatotoxicity of anti-viral drugs and substance use disorders. He was among the first discovered in vivo the association of ER stress response with development of liver disease. Dr. Ji has published original research papers in leading journals such as Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology, PNAS, Cell, Nature Nanotech. and Advanced Materials.
