Overview

Dr. Jeffrey Koempel, MD, MBA, FACS, FAAP, is a pediatric otolaryngologist and Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology at the USC Caruso Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He serves as the Division Chief of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).

Dr. Koempel earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Illinois Hospital/Eye & Ear Infirmary in Chicago. He completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children’s Hospital) in Chicago. Dr. Koempel also holds an MBA from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Koempel’s clinical interests encompass pediatric airway disorders, tonsil and adenoid diseases, head and neck masses, and thyroglossal duct anomalies. His research has contributed to advancements in tonsillectomy techniques, management of airway and tracheobronchial disorders, and healthcare policy reform.
