Dr. Fong completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Toronto, and his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Case Western University, and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Fong then served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Imaging Sciences in the Program for Heart Failure and Transplantation, and Co-Director of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the University of Rochester before joining the faculty at USC.

As Co-Director of Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy, Dr. Fong has helped build and expand the offerings for advanced healthcare to cardiac patients serviced by the Keck Medical Center of USC. In addition to his work in Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiothoracic Transplantation, Dr. Fong is also active in the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program, caring for patients with surgically implanted ventricular assist devices, and in the Department of Radiology interpreting cardiac MRI. Dr. Fong is also active in several medical center committees including the Electronic Health Records Subcommittee of the Medical Records Committee, and the Quality Operations and Standards Subcommittee.

Dr. Fong’s research interests include cardiogenic shock, cardiac imaging, severe hypertension and mobile technology in healthcare. He has been awarded grants by Proteus Digital Health and the Coulter Foundation, and has helped design and study mobile apps with Moving Analytics and Medable Inc.
