Overview

Dr. Syeda Narjis Fatima is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California (USC). She earned her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, focusing on intelligent human-computer interactions using deep learning. Her research addresses challenges such as Continuous Emotion Recognition (CER) in Dyadic Interactions.

Since joining USC in May 2023, Dr. Fatima has been establishing her independent research program, supported by USC funding. Her work spans AI for Health (AI4Health) and medical sensor research, in collaboration with USC Viterbi School of Engineering and the USC Information Science Institute (ISI). Her clinical research focuses on developing precision medicine tools, including deep learning methods for MR/CT synthesis to improve cancer detection, radiation therapy, and patient outcomes. Dr. Fatima also serves as a reviewer for several major IEEE journals and conferences.
