Overview

This project focuses on developing and implementing an interactive fellowship for California students, recent graduates, and career switchers aiming to work in health or social service fields with an interest in substance use disorder and AIAN communities. We encourage applications from individuals with backgrounds in areas such as health care, public health, social work, and behavioral health.

Fellows will learn about AIAN health considerations and substance use in AIAN communities through engaging content, including group discussions and guest speakers. They will also benefit from career support such as mentorship and an ongoing listserv.

The fellowship seeks to increase motivation to work with AIAN communities, provide key information and support, and empower fellows to apply for AIAN-serving jobs. Ultimately, the goal is to address staffing challenges by increasing the number of qualified individuals serving California’s AIAN populations.
