Overview

Dr. Tohme received his medical degree from St. Joseph University (SJU) in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA, during which time he received the François M Abboud Internal Medicine Award in recognition of outstanding scholarship. At the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Tohme completed a fellowship in nephrology, followed by a fellowship in critical care medicine. He worked at Washington University in St Louis between 2017 and 2021 and at the Lebanese American University in Beirut between 2019 and 2021. He has since joined the department of medicine at USC.

Dr. Tohme is first author on several published articles and book chapters. He has a special interest in the epidemiology of acute kidney injury and use of point of care ultrasound in nephrology. Dr. Tohme splits his time attending on the renal consult inpatient services as well as in the medical intensive care unit as a critical care attending. He also serves as Director of the Koreatown DaVita Home Dialysis program.
