Nasrin Esnaashari, CCRN, CNS, NP-C, DNP is a faculty member of the Department of Neurology at USC after completing her Master of Nursing Science at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her clinical background includes more than 20 years of Neuroscience experience in the deep brain stimulator field (DBS).
She is an expert in the clinical management of patients with DBS and started the USC DBS- Support Group in 2010 to empower patients and caregivers through education. She is involved with the teaching of DBS- device programming to Neurology Movement Disorder fellows and medical students.
She completed her doctoral degree at UCLA, and her research is focused on patients & caregivers' education. She developed a DBS-Education pamphlet for DBS-candidates and their caregiver to guide them with long-term safe home DBS management techniques. She has been a speaker at Parkinson's Support Groups, nursing programs, and local nursing chapters. She continues to be a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and has served on the Conference Subcommittee since 2019. She is a co-author of the update to the AAN's Position Statement on Advanced Practice Providers. She is the Chair-Elect for the Consortium of Neurology Advanced Practice Providers (CNAPP). She is also a member of the nursing honor society of Sigma Theta Tau International and a member of the Alpha Tau Delta.
