Breast and Body Fellowship

The University of Southern California offers a one-year, non-ACGME, Body Imaging and Intervention Fellowship training. This program is designed to prepare confident, capable radiologists for careers in private and academic practice. As fellows in the institution are given the appointment of clinical instructor. Fellows receive comprehensive and supervised training in both Breast and Body imaging. The year is divided into monthly rotations, with six months of body imaging and six months of breast imaging. Rotations for the body imaging portion consist of: three months rotating in body MRI, two months rotating in ultrasound and interventional procedures, and one month rotating at Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. For the Breast portion, Fellows will practice mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and breast procedures.

Fellows rotate through various hospitals including Los Angeles General Medical Center, Keck Hospital of USC, private outpatient clinics (HCC1 and HCC2), and Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. One of the fellowship’s key strengths derives from the breadth of experience and rich diversity offered by having these very different facilities located within proximity of one medical campus. All studies are reviewed on our PACS workstation and 3D Vitrea workstations. Fellows are also encouraged to participate in research, with alumni fellows having regularly submitted to national conferences, including Radiological Society of North America and American Roentgen Ray Society.
