Local Workforce Development Program

The Keck School of Medicine of USC provides a workforce development program bringing together the Keck School, Keck Medicine of USC, and University Relations to support our surrounding communities. The program offers training, technical assistance and mentoring to young adults (ages 18 to 24), providing them with opportunities to learn about various career pathways, including administration, hospital technical work, emergency preparedness, and fostering participation in the physician assistant USC PA pipeline. Participants receive a stipend and are connected to one of the chosen pathways. Via problem-based learning, participants gain a better understanding of what training is needed to do a certain type of job, what careers may pay, and how to prepare for a career in one of these areas. They also receive training in resume writing, mock job interviews, identifying their own goals and objectives, and engaging in a career discovery day.
