Overview

Dr. Alan L. Nager is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. In addition, he has been Director of the Division of Emergency and Transport Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles since 1997. The Emergency Department treats 65,000 patients annually, and is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in Southern California. Dr. Nager received his undergraduate degree in Public Health and Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1982, and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1987. He completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and completed his fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 1992. He received his Masters of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Southern California in 2009. Dr. Nager has lectured extensively on a variety of Emergency Medicine topics nationally and internationally. He is a member of several pediatric emergency medicine organizations dealing with health and injury prevention and was a consultant for the Los Angeles Poison Control Center for four years. Dr. Nager has volunteered extensively with organizations that provide pediatric health and education experiences. He has appeared over 45 times in local, state, national print and broadcast media, as a featured expert on numerous medical and trauma topics. In addition, Dr. Nager has numerous publications, predominately in the areas of dehydration, mental health, disaster medicine, and trauma.
