Overview

Dr. Stevens is a health policy researcher, writer, teacher and advocate. He holds a MHS and PhD from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a focus on health care policy.

He currently focuses his efforts on teaching and writing, leading graduate courses on health policy, comparative health systems, and research and evaluation. He has served as consultant on these issues to local organizations, including L.A. Care Health Plan, Pasadena Child Health Foundation and Remote Area Medical.

He researches health care systems, primary health care, and health care quality, with a particular interest in these issues as they affect children. In addition to an R01 from the NIDDK, his research has been funded the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, First 5 California and the California Endowment among others.

He is an author of the book Vulnerable Populations in the United States and a regular contributor to the research and policy blog at the journal Medical Care.
