Overview

Jamie E. Confino, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with Keck Medicine of USC who specializes in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. Dr. Confino has expertise in minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques for treating shoulder, knee, hip and elbow injuries and is fellowship-trained in shoulder replacement surgery.

She is passionate about helping athletes of all levels return to the activities they love. The most important aspect of her relationship with patients is trust built through listening, understanding their goals and working together as a team to achieve the best possible outcomes. Her mission is to make every patient feel heard, respected and confident that treatment decisions align with their priorities.

Dr. Confino earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and completed her orthopedic surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She completed her fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. During fellowship, she was an assistant team physician for the University of California, Berkeley, and the San Francisco Giants.

Now at the University of Southern California, Dr. Confino serves as a team physician for the USC Trojans. She is an assistant professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Confino’s academic research focuses on improving treatment strategies for sports-related injuries in athletes of all levels, including ACL reconstruction, shoulder instability and minimally invasive hip arthroscopy. She has a particular interest in the care of overhead and throwing athletes and has conducted studies on ulnar collateral ligament injuries, pitching biomechanics and injury prevention in elite and professional baseball players.
