Overview

Dr. Mínguez-Alarcón is a Spanish epidemiologist and her research focuses on identifying chemical and non-chemical stressors of human fertility, reproductive and cardiometabolic health with special interest in chemical mixtures, diet-chemical interactions and paternal contributions to pregnancy outcomes. She is an Associate Professor at USC Keck School of Medicine in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences (Division of Environmental Health) and a Department Associate at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. Prior to join USC, Dr. Mínguez-Alarcón was an Assistant Professor at the Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Results from her work have been used by national and international agencies (e.g. European Food Safety Authority). Dr. Mínguez-Alarcón is the founding PI of the NIH Longitudinal Investigation of Health and Diseases after Infertility (LIHDI) Study, which is prospectively exploring chemical exposures during reproductive years in relation to long-term cardiovascular and metabolic health. She is also the PI of other NIH projects examining paternal pesticide exposure and sperm/leukocyte epigenome in relation to couple’s pregnancy outcomes as well as phthalate-diet interactions on reproductive health outcomes. She brings her expertise to Environmental Research as an Executive Editor and the Reproductive, Perinatal and Pediatric Health (RPPH) NIH study section as a Grant Reviewer.
