Overview

Samantha Sui-Jen Chau, MD, MS, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her commitment to Keck Medicine of USC started early, as a high school volunteer at the hospital known then as USC University Hospital. She continued her education at the University of Southern California, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Studies and, concurrently, a Master of Science in Global Medicine. She spent her gap years working as a Program Assistant for the Keck School of Medicine and as a staff member for a shelter in Los Angeles’ Skid Row, before returning to Keck to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree.

Dr. Chau completed her internal medicine internship at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. She then completed her residency in Integrated Interventional Radiology at USC, training at Los Angeles General Medical Center and Keck Medical Center of USC. During her training, she served as Chief Resident, and her dedication was recognized through several honors, including Physician of the Year at LAC+USC Medical Center and the Stewart Dale Fordham Distinguished Resident Award. Her journey reflects a longstanding connection to Los Angeles and USC, as well as a commitment to service, compassionate care, and excellence in medicine.

Dr. Chau believes in being a well-rounded interventional radiologist capable of providing comprehensive IR care. Her favorite interests within her field include portal interventions (such as TIPS), biliary interventions (including biliary stricture management), and women’s health interventions (for example, uterine fibroid embolization and treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome).
