Overview

Sanjeet G. Patel, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and an attending cardiac surgeon at Keck Hospital of USC. His clinical practice covers adult cardiac surgery, with emphasis on mechanical circulatory support, heart transplantation, aortic and valve surgery, and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, for which he serves as Surgical Director. He directs the Physician Scientist Training Program at the Keck School of Medicine. His research spans human pluripotent stem cell biology and cardiac cell therapy, machine learning for outcome prediction after cardiac surgery and mechanical circulatory support, and the genetic and metabolic mechanisms of atypical diabetes and aortopathy.
