Our faculty are a rare mix of award-winning teachers and renowned researchers in bone biology, biomechanics, functional anatomy and evolutionary morphology. Our fundamental insights into anatomy, and how it has changed since the distant past, set the stage for biomedical advances. Graduate students learn from experts, and medical students receive instruction that’s both high-tech and hands-on. 

Research

The Department of Integrative Anatomical Sciences is a hub for exploring movement, structure and function in humans and other organisms. Our scientists build on their important contributions to biological understanding in collaboration with biokinesiologists, engineers, neuroscientists and more.

Training & Education

Most of the department’s educational efforts are dedicated to medical education. Our faculty is responsible for preclinical courses for medical students that account for nearly 40 percent of didactic teaching during the first two years of medical school
