Department of Family Medicine
About the Department
Advancing the quality of patient care remains at the heart of what we do. The exceptional team at the Department of Family Medicine combines high-tech, high-touch holistic primary care for patients of all ages — from newborns to seniors. As part of this mission, the department is devoted to providing and caring for older adults. We strive to shift the emphasis in clinical care from “illness” to “wellness.”
The department’s inter-professional, patient-centered services include a commitment to the underserved of Los Angeles, ensuring all patients receive top-quality, compassionate medical care — whatever their needs or circumstances may be. Department Chair, Laura Mosqueda, MD, and other Family Medicine faculty are nationally recognized for their work with the elderly; the department houses the country’s only National Center on Elder Abuse.
