POP: Perspectives on Public Health audio series launches

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences has launched a new audio series – POP: Perspectives on Public Health. The occasional series explores a broad spectrum of public health issues, and their real-world effects, through interviews, discussions and special event episodes. Hosted by Karina Dominguez Gonzalez, MPH, of the Office of Social Justice, the series provides glimpses into lived experiences, and insight into how issues, circumstances, programs and policies affect individuals, communities and populations.

The series premiere is a two-part episode on the life and legacy of late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and how her influential career helped shape public health policies. Listeners are invited into class with professor Michael Cousineau, DPH, and guests include Gould School of Law professor Ariela Gross, JD, PhD; associate justice Jon B. Streeter, JD; special advisor to the President of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Sylvia Drew Ivie, JD; and former appointee of the Clinton administration Angela Oh, JD, MPH.

Future episodes include interviews with USC student Etienne Kabwasa Green, organizer of the USC Student March, and Monica Howe, MPH, a Master of Public Health program alumni working in harm reduction.
