Virtual celebration has a lot to offer Keck School alumni this Friday

The Annual Meeting and Healthcare Conference at the Keck School of Medicine, happening all day Friday, Nov. 13, will be a virtual affair. We’re all used to the shift to online by now, but organizers think the format has a lot to offer health professionals.

The Conference will give alumni of the Keck School an opportunity to share medical school memories, reconnect with classmates and friends, and learn about the latest advancements in the fields of healthcare and medicine at USC. 

The event will also celebrate the classes of 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015 on their 50th, 45th, 40th, 35th, 30th, 25th, 20th, 15th,10th and 5th reunions, respectively. Individual class reunion Zoom breakouts will be held on Friday evening.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with a breakfast meeting featuring key members of the KSOM leadership — Interim Dean Narsing Rao, MD; Vice Dean for Research Thomas Buchanan, MD; Vice Dean for Medical Education Donna Elliott, MD; Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs Robert Milner, PhD; and Executive Vice Dean Luanne Thorndyke, MD.

Then comes what, for many, is a big draw of the annual gathering: free Continuing Medical Education taught by KSOM experts. Attendees can earn 2 credits of CME in the morning session, and another credit during a series of grand rounds at 4 p.m.

There’s also a student panel and, during the lunch hour, student performances and a mindfulness break.
