Within our Student Mental Health division and specifically CMH, we sponsor 19 Masters and Pre/Post-Doctoral trainees in four separate educational programs including
1) a practicum training program (5 half-time positions) for PhD and PsyD students;
2) a doctoral internship program in health service psychology that is accredited by the American Psychological Association (5 full-time positions for PhD and PsyD students in their last year of study);
3) a postgraduate/postdoctoral program in college mental health or sports psychology (7 full-time positions for PhD, PsyD, ASW, AMFT, and APCC graduates); and
4) a social work internship program (2 half-time positions) for students pursuing a master’s degree.

All CMH faculty are invested in various aspects of providing supervision and training across the different educational programs. The accredited doctoral training program is highly competitive with an average of over 125 applicants received for 5 positions over the past several years. The national average for applications received is 72. We were able to match with our top ten ranked candidates for this internship training year while our practicum program matched with our top five for the five positions available. The training program was able to maintain strong interest despite the majority of the training programs across the country experiencing a downturn in applications.

To meet the unique needs of our USC student athletes and to create a pipeline that will benefit the national sport psychology community, CMH recently launched a specialized track focusing on working with student athletes of color.
