Training Hospitals

Junior and senior medical students participate in a structured case-based curriculum developed from a nationally recommended program from the Clerkship Directors of Internal Medicine. The are assigned to work directly with attending physicians and residents in the provision of patient care.

Residents in the Department of Medicine have the opportunity to develop excellent diagnostic and management skills while learning hands-on medicine from a patient base with a remarkable range of common and uncommon clinical problems. Our residents are critical members of our care teams and are allowed progressive autonomy in their roles as physicians-in-training.

The Department of Medicine’s ACGME-accredited Transitional Year Residency prepares PGY-1 physicians for advanced specialty training through a customizable clinical curriculum at Keck Hospital of USC and USC Arcadia Hospital. Grounded in a mission of compassionate care, academic excellence, and physician wellness, our program develops resilient physicians ready to thrive in their chosen specialty.

The department offers 15 ACGME-accredited fellowship-training programs in medicine subspecialties. Each program provides its trainees with clinical and research education under the supervision of experts in the respective discipline.
