    Ashley Nguyen

Hi guys! My name is Ashley, and I am currently a Master of Public Health student here at USC in the Global Health concentration. I graduated in May 2025 with my B.S. in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at USC (Double Trojan! Fight On!). In public health, I am passionate about advocating for children’s health and health literacy. Not only within the U.S., but I believe that children from all around the world deserve to receive the best quality of care, and I am committed to improving health literacy in underrepresented populations, starting from youth. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for any questions or concerns!

I am a second-year MPH student concentrating in Health Services and Policy with aspirations to become an OBGYN. My interest in public health centers on understanding how healthcare systems and policies shape patient care, particularly in reproductive and maternal health. Last summer, I completed an internship in partnership with the CDC focused on group prenatal care, where I examined its role in reducing clinician bias and fostering empathy in maternal healthcare settings, and I presented this work at an international conference. I have also conducted research with City of Hope examining postpartum depression in the African American community. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to health equity, advocacy, and providing compassionate, patientcentered care informed by both clinical practice and policy. As a proud member of the Trojan Family, I am excited to give back to the MPH community and support prospective and incoming students throughout their public health journey!

I was born and raised in Southern California and earned my bachelor’s degree in political science from Boston College. After graduating, I moved to Washington, D.C., to join Patients For Affordable Drugs, a national patient advocacy organization working to lower the cost of prescription drugs in the United States. I serve as the Bilingual Advocacy & Organizing Coordinator, where I work closely with patients across the country — particularly those from communities often left out of health policy conversations despite being disproportionately impacted by these decisions. I focus on ensuring patients have access to clear, culturally competent resources and information, and I recruit and support patient participation in national advocacy efforts, including congressional hearings and Lobby Days, letter-writing and call-in campaigns, digital advertising, and rapid-response actions. My interest in public health lies at the intersection of federal policy, human impact, and lived experience. I am deeply committed to bridging the gap between complex federal policies and the real-world experiences of the individuals they affect, elevating grassroots patient narratives as a driving force behind meaningful national policy reform.

I’m a Master of Public Health student with a concentration in Health Services and Policy. I currently reside within the San Gabriel Valley area and have a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society. I am currently in my second and final year in the program (admitted Spring 2025). My current interests revolve around understanding the complexity of healthcare systems and how consulting practices and administrative work can impact the equity, quality, and access to healthcare service delivery. Outside of school, I create productivity content that helps students figure out healthy and sustainable habits that are best fit for them.

      Daezsa Rae Pasion

My name is Daezsa Rae Pasion, a current online MPH student with a concentration in Global Health! I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s of Science in Neurobiology, and I currently work as a clinical research coordinator in surgical oncology. Living and working in Los Angeles has allowed me to interact with numerous communities of individuals from different backgrounds and walks of life who all have one common goal: to live healthy lives. From these interactions grew my interest in studying public health to help ensure this goal becomes achievable and equitable for all. Throughout my experience in USC’s Online MPH Program, I have made many valuable connections with peers and professors through shared interests in advancing the field of public health not only in Los Angeles, but across the world. The curriculum provides its students numerous opportunities to learn skills in leadership, research, and community engagement. Additionally, the program equips students with a supportive academic environment, an inclusive space for discussion, and useful tools to help guide students towards their career goals in the field of public health. As a Student Ambassador, I am honored to represent the Online MPH Program, and I hope to provide that support for new and prospective students!
