On December 5, the Primary Care Physician Assistant Class of 2023 held their White Coat Ceremony. Different from medical students, the PA Program coats students between their didactic and clinical phases to signal the transition from the classroom into the clinic.

Held at University Park Campus in Bovard Auditorium, this year was a celebration unlike any before. With gathering family, friends and supporters this in-person event included recognizing the establishment of the Larry Rosen Memorial Scholarship and featured Congresswoman Karen Bass, an alumna and past faculty member at the PA program.

“One thing that I always like to suggest to PA students, when you enter a new community and new patient population take a minute to learn about that patient population,” shared Bass. “Congratulations for getting through a most difficult year and I do hope that as you go into your rotations you have a wonderful clinical experience.”

In their new white coats, the Class of 2023 begin rotations on January 10.
