Welcome to Student Mental Health services at the Department of Psychiatry, where we offer robust psychiatric and behavioral health care to the university student body through two mental health practices:

  • Psychiatry Department faculty, staff, and trainees in Counseling and Mental Health (CMH) provide services under the auspices of the Student Health fee. CMH supports students in achieving their academic and personal goals. Services include short-term individual therapy; “Let’s Talk” and solution sessions; group therapy; referrals; crisis intervention; psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up; outreach and prevention; collaboration with campus partners; and training and supervision. Specialty services include Eating Disorders and Body Image Concerns, and the Confidential Advocacy, Resources, and Education – Support Center (CARE-SC). CMH coordinates the university’s mental health response to campus tragedies and conducts postvention efforts related to student deaths.
  • In addition, the Department of Psychiatry operates the nation’s first on-campus private mental health clinic – Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services at University Park Campus (PBHS@UPC) – where students can use their insurance to receive comprehensive, compassionate psychiatric care, therapy, and case management services. PBHS@UPC offers extended access to mental health care for USC students through intermediate and long-term, solution-focused, evidence-based practices for more complex conditions. A multi-disciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, and other professionals accomplish the practice’s mission of ensuring access to the highest quality of mental health care for all students.
