The Office of Well-Being works with individuals and groups across the school to help advance its mission. Below are some of the key players in what we do.

  • The KSOM Office of Well-being works closely with other campus partners also focused on matters pertaining to well-being.

    USC WorkWell Center

    • The USC WorkWell Center (formerly CWFL) empowers USC-benefitted Faculty and Staff to thrive in mind, body, and spirit, so that our people are engaged, productive, and happy. We do this through confidential and cost-free counseling, executive coaching, consultation, critical incident support, and health and wellness promotion and education programs. For more information, visit our website, call us (24/7) at (213) 821-0800 or email workwell@usc.edu.

Keck Medicine’s Care for the Caregiver

    • KSOM faculty at Keck Medicine have access to Care for the Caregiver (C4C). Directed by Dr. Steve Siegel and supported by Dr. Jonathan Wong and Dara Weinraub, CFC offers peer support, support groups, massages, workshops, and an Emotional Well-being Hotline for non-crisis emotional support at 323-865-9897. To learn more about C4C services, email careforthecaregiver@med.usc.edu.

    CHLA Well-being

    • KSOM faculty at CHLA have access to the CHLA well-being leadership team. Directed by Drs. Sara Semal, Chief Wellness Officer, and Ilanit Brook, Chief Faculty Wellness Officer, the well-being team offers 24/7 peer support for adverse events, emotional support counseling services, professional coaching, benefit perks, community building, spiritual care, Schwartz Rounds, debriefs, and dog therapy.

    LAGMC Wellness

    • KSOM faculty at LAGMC have access to the Helping Healers Heal (H3) Wellness Team and the DHS wellness resources. Directed by Drs. Allison Luu and Alex Rosenberg, the H3 team responds to distress in healthcare workers as a result of adverse events, bad patient outcomes, verbal/physical abuse by patients, the loss of coworkers, and other devastating events during the pandemic. The H3 team has expanded to monthly Schwartz Rounds, exercise/meditation/educational sessions, improvement of call rooms, and a meditation room. You can submit a request for either 1:1 or group peer support or find an upcoming training at the H3 website. Email the team at H3Team@dhs.lacounty.gov or call for emergency debriefs at 323-409-4445.

USC Office of Campus Wellbeing and Crisis Intervention

    • USC Office of Campus Wellbeing and Crisis Intervention(CWCI) is a one stop shop serving the entire USC community. It addresses concerns and questions, and provides support, troubleshooting, threat assessment, advocacy, education, referrals and crisis response and support.

    Medical Student Well-Being Program

    • KSOM acknowledges the stress inherent to medical school and strives to build a safe, humane, and compassionate educational experience that puts students first. The medical student well-being office is staffed by two licensed clinical psychologists who deliver well-being curricular content, provide safe spaces to talk, and advocate for policies and procedures to support student health.

Humanities, Ethics/Economics, Arts and the Law (HEAL) Program

    • The HEAL (Humanities, Ethics, Art, and Law) curriculum prepares students to care for patients as complete human beings, not just as injuries or illness. HEAL hosts a variety of co-curricular events such as creative writing workshops, the Art and Medicine series, and the Lunch and Learn series, to support the well-being of students and of our KSOM community.

USC Institute for Integrative Health and Wellness

    • The USC Institute for Integrative Health and Wellness mission is to promote the health and healing of individuals, families, and communities we serve through the advancement of the practice of integrative health, the science upon which it is based, and the education of healthcare practitioners and the USC community.

    Mindfulness USC

    • Mindful USC is a service from the Provost’s Office with a mission to empower the USC community to make positive change in the world by building a culture of mindfulness and compassion.  It offers ongoing training, practice groups and special events throughout USC.

     YogaUSC

    • Yoga USC is the home base for all yoga related activities at the University of Southern California campus. It serves as the resource guide for existing departmental classes, as an educational tool for greater understanding of yoga’s many benefits, and offers specialized classes designed to bring together students, staff, and faculty.

Lifestyle Redesign(R) Services at the Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice:

    • The Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice offers Lifestyle Redesign services to faculty, staff, and students. Clinicians collaborate with individuals to create sustainable, health-promoting habits and routines to support well-being and improved disease self-management. For more information, or to schedule an appointment with a clinician, visit our website, call us at 323-442-3340, or email otfp@med.usc.edu.
  • The Keck Well-being Champions are nominated representatives from clinical, basic sciences, and staff departments/units departments who provide leadership and oversight of well-being efforts for their department. The Champions work with the KSOM Office of Well-being to assess departmental needs and undertake specific local projects related to well-being.
