The Center holds its annual symposium on the first Friday in December. This event brings together the center members, guests, and the external scientific advisory board (SAB) members and showcases the progress made by the center research projects and pilot projects. New pilot project applicants also have an opportunity to present their proposals. Via this symposium, the SAB members evaluate the center-supported research and offers constructive recommendations, including the evaluation of the pilot project applications. The symposium also provides a platform to recognize pre- and postdoctoral fellows’ contributions by having selected trainees to present their research for the Samuel W. French Junior Scientist Award, which was established in 2021 in memory of the late Professor Sam French.
