Tour Our Simulation Center
Our Anesthesiology Simulation Center is located at LAC/USC Medical Center on the fifth floor within Same Day Surgery, Room A5C113.
The mission of the LAC+USC Department of Anesthesiology Education and Simulation Center is to improve patient care and safety by providing evidence based simulation educational programs designed for multidisciplinary perioperative learners, teams, and individuals. The vision of the LAC+USC Department of Anesthesiology Education and Simulation Center is to provide simulation training and education for the benefit of a culturally diverse patient population. Our focus will be to advance patient safety, simulation research, and leadership in medical education. Performance indicators will include content, quality, utilization and learner outcomes.
Our qualified simulation faculty incorporate the INACSL Standards of Best Practice in Simulation into each of a wide variety of learning experiences, and performance indicators are driven by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA), American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Council on Dental Accreditation (CODA), and Quality Safety Education in Nursing (QSEN) standards. Learning is enhanced through up to date, state of the art technologies including low and medium fidelity task trainers, a high-fidelity CAE Human Patient Simulator within a life-like simulated operating room setting, and the use of standardized patient educators (SPEs) in the teaching and assessment of history taking, consultation, physical examination and other clinical skills.
