On February 22 and 23, Laura Mosqueda, MD, hosted the 5th biennial USC Judith D. Tamkin International Symposium on Elder Abuse in Pasadena. Since its inception in 2016 through a generous gift from Mrs. Judith D. Tamkin, the Symposium has been the premier international convening of elder justice researchers, professionals, policymakers, funders, advocates, and scholars.

This year’s Symposium saw a record-breaking attendance of 210 participants, with esteemed presenters and attendees from across the country, Canada, Israel, Norway, and the United Kingdom.

Laura Mosqueda, MD, shared, “It was a treat to see the best minds in the field come together to exchange ideas, create new collaborations, and dream of big ideas that push us forward on behalf of older adults. The excitement and warmth was palpable throughout the conference… What a great experience!”

The event’s presentations and scientific posters tackled vital topics such as elder financial exploitation, abuse across the lifespan, and person-centered, trauma-informed care. The Symposium serves as an authoritative platform for disseminating research findings, shaping policy, fostering collaborations, and advancing the field of elder justice on a global scale.
