Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

In the Keck School’s Department of Radiology, we  believe that we do the best job of pursuing our mission with a diverse and inclusive community of students, residents, fellows, staff and faculty. Our goal is to create a department and community reflective of the communities we serve and the world at large. Together, we are better equipped to improve the lives of our patients and our neighbors.

We cultivate an environment that is culturally diverse, inclusive and welcoming. This is a place where people affirm and respect diversity of individual backgrounds and points of view. We recognize diversity in all of its forms, whether that means race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, socioeconomic background, disability, veteran status or marital status (to name a few).

Diversity makes us better. Research shows that working and learning in an environment diverse in thought and perspective improves the quality of education as well as boosting organizational outcomes at all levels, and for people of all backgrounds.

With this in mind, we commit resources to recruiting, supporting and retaining students, trainees, faculty and staff that encompass the full diversity of our population. Pursuing these priorities better enables us to reach our vision of educating our students, residents and fellows on best practices within a complex society, seeking innovative solutions in research and clinical care, and providing role models and mentors to future generations.
