Division of Body Imaging
The Division of Body Imaging excels in all aspects of radiology including clinical service, education and clinical research. We collaborate closely with our medical and surgical colleagues to provide high quality care and to maintain an atmosphere of innovation.
We are proud to offer a full range of diagnostic radiology examinations and interventional procedures serving a wide range of patients and disease processes. In order to provide the highest quality of care we are divided into the following sub-specialized sections: Abdominal Imaging, Cardiothoracic Imaging and Pediatric Imaging.
Division of Emergency Radiology
The Division of Emergency Radiology is dedicated to supporting the Level 1 Trauma Center at LAC+USC Medical Center by providing the vital radiologic component of the emergency services. Our dedicated emergency department radiologists work closely with the emergency room medical and surgical physicians to provide the best care possible for our patients.
Division of Musculoskeletal Radiology
The Division of Musculoskeletal Radiology has a very strong tradition and superb reputation both nationally and internationally in its orthopaedic and rheumatology clinical services. We constantly communicate with our clinical colleagues and give full support to their clinical, research and academic enterprises. Examples include dynamic contrast enhancement and perfusion of soft tissue lesions with MRI, medial collateral ligament research and advanced imaging for arthroplasty complications.
We also offer a variety of minimally invasive imaging guided procedures – some of which are not offered by anyone else in the area.
Division of Neuroradiology
The Division of Neuroradiology is proud of the high quality of clinical work, which is made possible by the availability of State of Art imaging equipment and excellent support staff. Neuroradiology works closely with Neurosurgery, Neurology, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology and Orthopaedic Surgery to ensure that our clinical colleagues are satisfied with the quality of our care, which we constantly improve by incorporating new techniques when available.
Division of Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine is the medical specialty that uses small amounts of radioactive materials for diagnosis and larger amounts for treatment of diseases. The Division of Nuclear Medicine’s emphasis is on diagnosis of disease. In Nuclear Medicine, the source of radioactivity is not in the machine but inside the patient for a short period of time.
Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology
The Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) has unique expertise in image guided percutaneous interventions in the chest, abdomen and extremities. Interventional radiologists diagnose and treat diseases through the use of narrow tubes (catheters) and imaging, often eliminating the need for more complicated surgeries and lengthy recoveries. The division is organized to provide comprehensive service in virtually every facet of minimally invasive procedure.
Imaging modalities included in the program include fluoroscopy, angiography, computed tomography, ultrasonography and MRI.
Division of Women’s Imaging
The Division of Women’s Imaging is composed of several modalities that work together or independently to diagnose women’s health problems. These modalities include mammography, ultrasound (US), computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET) and interventional procedures.
