THE CAMPUS OF THE FUTURE

Dynamic teamwork has replaced solitary study in medical education, infusing classwork with real-world urgency and collaboration. Students learn to work in concert with occupational and physical therapists, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and mental health experts—and at USC, we have students studying in each of these fields, making medical education here a uniquely cooperative enterprise.

To make this transition to team study even more meaningful for our students, they need:

  • Flexible spaces that prioritize team learning
  • Spaces to use emerging technology such as augmented reality
  • 3D-printing and maker spaces to print three-dimensional organs and other anatomical models
  • Simulation labs to practice emergency, surgical, obstetrical, and primary care medicine
