COMMUNITY & THE KECK SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

The Keck School of Medicine has pioneered an award-winning Street Medicine program to care for Los Angeles’s 48,000 unsheltered homeless residents. Our model is so successful it’s spreading to other cities across the state and nation.

Many of LA’s unsheltered homeless citizens feel disenfranchised by society and our health system, yet they often have serious medical concerns. USC’s Street Medicine teams have treated more than 2,000 patients on the street every year, giving them back both their health and dignity.

As a result of USC Street Medicine teams’ advocacy, medical practitioners around the country can now bill and be reimbursed for care provided on the street, effective October 1, 2023.
