Professional Development Opportunities:

The Department of Medical Education (DME) is dedicated to providing resources for our faculty to thrive in their roles as clinical educators and educational scholars. We have delivered faculty development activities for 30 years in various formats and on a wide variety of topics. In order to better meet the ever-changing needs of our teaching taskforce, we offer the following options by which individual faculty, departments and residency programs can seek assistance.

  1. Customizable Faculty Development Session: DME has traditionally offered faculty development sessions around assessment and feedback, curriculum design, instructional design and strategies, program evaluation, and educational scholarship and research in the form of grand rounds, noon conferences, interactive workshops and retreats. Other topics and formats may be developed upon request.
  2. Customizable Residents as Teachers Sessions: DME offers a set of interactive workshop targeted to the residents’ specific teaching needs, including but not limited to creating a positive learning environment, identifying learners in difficulty, assessing learners and providing effective feedback, small group teaching, and teaching in the clinical setting.
  3. Individual Consultations: One-on-One or small-group consultation sessions addressing the specific needs of the individual faculty or a small group of faculty (disciplines, systems, clerkships, etc.) are available upon request.
