Domestic Applicants

If your application is being considered for acceptance, the PIBBS Program will invite you for an on-campus interview. We will cover the cost of your travel, lodging, and most meals and will assist you in making travel arrangements.

The events of your visit include an informal welcome dinner with current students on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning, breakfast will be hosted at the Keck School of Medicine. After an overview presentation of the program, interviews are scheduled, along with a faculty luncheon and a tour of campus and scientific facilities. The interviews are one-on-one talks with professors and Admissions Committee faculty from the PIBBS program. Interviews take place on Thursday and Friday.

Our graduate students play a significant part in coordinating your visit. On Thursday evening, current PIBBS students host a social event in downtown Los Angeles. On Friday, the students present at a poster session to share their research and a take part in a panel session to give you the “inside scoop” about their experiences in the program.

The dress code for the visit is business casual attire – nice slacks or pants paired with a nice shirt or sweater. Keep in mind comfort and fluctuating temperatures and weather. Applicants are recommended to wear flat shoes.

International Applicants

For PIBBS applicants living outside the continental United States, interviews will be conducted over the phone or via video conference with a representative of the PIBBS Admissions Committee. Interview dates vary, and if your application is being considered for acceptance you will be contacted via e-mail no later than the first week of March to schedule an interview date.

*Please note: If you are an international student but living in the continental United States at the time of the application process, you will be considered for interview purposes only, as a domestic applicant.
