Overview

The University of Southern California EMS fellowship is a 1-year fully accredited ACGME program. It gives you the opportunity to work with:

  1. Busiest emergency department in California – Los Angeles General Medical Center (formerly LAC+USC)
  2. Largest trauma center in Los Angeles County
  3. Busiest base station in Los Angeles County
  4. Collaborate with multiple small, medium and large 911-EMS provider agencies, including the Los Angeles Fire Department  – the 2nd largest municipal 911 agency in the US
  5. The oldest continuous emergency medicine residency in the United States

Expectations include:

  1. Operations
    • Ride-alongs
    • Dispatch Center quality improvement
    • Exposure to Air operations, USART, & HERT
    • Participation in large event planning and execution (including the USC Coliseum and SoFi Stadium)
  2. Administration and Teaching
    • Base Station Tape Review
    • EMS resident rotation education and guidance
    • Emergency Department Grand Rounds
  3. ACGME/ABEM requirements
    • Core curriculum
    • Research project
    • Emergency Medicine board certification
    • Emergency Department clinical shifts
